Introduction
Who am I?
Genius millio-, I guess it stops there.
Jokes aside, I am a second year BTech CSE student at Parul University with a strong interest in various computer science topics. I have a thirst for learning and want to understand how everything in computer science works. The goal is to be a jack of all trades and master of many. I value objective and concise information... interpret that as you wish.
What is this blog?
I guess this blog will be a public diary throughout this journey , to show my progress and to occasionally remind myself who I am.
Joining us on this (mildly) exciting and (occasionally) heart-pounding journey will be none other than our friendly neighborhood Imposter Syndrome, who brought along its cousins, 'Confusion' and 'Procrastination.' So let's dive right in .
More about yours truly
Getting started with computer science ofcourse,
I always knew this was the field I want to get into, started playing around with HTML at a young age, my first inspiration was Notch, the creator of Minecraft , the only thing I know about him was that he was a solo dev who made this masterpiece of a game and became a multi-millionaire. It really sparked my interest and I wanted to know more about how a bunch of 1s and 0s can become unforgettable experiences. As I started exploring, I realized how big the field actually is and there's an ocean of knowledge to gain, so I got to it, which brings us to today.
I haven't committed to a niche yet, and am still exploring. There's unlimited options and finite time, not to mention the very finite energy that the human body possesses, more so in my case.
So far, I am an oracle certified SQL specialist and am looking forward to PL/SQL, and eventually Java. I have explored web development and have taken a liking to backend development with Django.
I have played around with the Unity game engine, but calling it game development would be a stretch, since I got lost in the world building aspect of it.
For now, I am interested but haven't had the chance to learn AI, cyber security and networking. Although I am looking forward to it.
I mostly post this type of stuff on my LinkedIn
Aside from that, I'm just an (extra) ordinary person with a love for simplicity, I have done some 3d art/animation, some drawing here and there and some sketching.
I like to explore new places (only with good company). I particularly enjoy sitting around campfires with friends and going to high mountain peaks.
Other than that, I used to enjoy gaming but time constraints prevent me from that now. I read and listen to books occasionally, fiction and non-fiction.
Lately, I have begun to have an obsession with chess, but I have an ELO that can't be flexed.
What's next?
My main focus right now is, or atleast is supposed to be diving deep into each computer science field and learning as much as possible, I am aware that it's easier said than done.
One of my key objectives is to cultivate a stronger work ethic, everything else should follow. I've realized that changing my sprint approach to a marathon approach is essential, and I have taken steps towards it. While I do manage to accomplish the important tasks, the sprint mentality tends to add a lot of suspense to life – something more suitable for a movie plot than for reality.
Career wise, of course there's the certifications to clear, front end frameworks to learn, AI and cybersecurity to explore.
And ofcourse... college studies, which aren't difficult, but tedious, this blog is also a part of those college studies, but luckily, I have started to enjoy myself while writing it. Sadly, that doesn't happen for other tedious handwritten assignments and term work. But I guess this ties in to the "better work ethic" goal, I will have to do things I don't want to, and I have gotten used to that, to a certain extent, but there's a long way to go before I internalize it.
Closing thoughts
Apparently writing a whole blog about yourself is an exercise in self reflection more than anything, and strangely motivational, glad I did it. I hope that one day that "extra" in "(extra) ordinary" won't be a joke. Here's to the journey ahead 🚀✨
